High-energy family show at the Surrey Arts Centre on Feb. 4.

Surrey Civic Theatres and Surrey International Children’s Festival present Axis Theatre’s production of Hamelin: A New Fable in Feb. 4 at 2 p.m. at the Surrey Arts Centre, 13750 88 Ave.

Expect to be captivated by the masks, live music, and comedic twists in this high-energy retelling of The Pied Piper of Hamelin fable – all done in Axis Theatre’s unique physical theatre style.

The story, about heroes Celeste and Ralph in the 13th-century medieval German town of Hamelin, is ideal for ages five to 12, as well as grownups.

For kids and adults with inquiring minds, there will be a short talkback with the actors after the show.
