Every summer, Enderby’s Runaway Moon Theatre hosts an art camp where children and youth around the ages of eight to 15 have fun making things, creating stories and performing.
“All activities focus on a theme that both allows campers to express their creativity and learn about the environment they live in,” said puppet maker and Runaway Moon artistic director Cathy Stubington.
This year’s camp theme is “who lives in the woods,” and will be conducted by Stubington with local dancer Kristi Christian and plant lover Teresa Christian.
“Throughout the four-day camp, children will explore the plants and bugs that are found in the woods. Campers will make a puppet, and some of the special things needed for the upcoming community play, Tuwitames, as well as treasures to take home,” said Stubington, adding, “The week will conclude with a simple presentation based on the true and imagined lives of the woods.”
The camp runs from July 2 to 5 from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Splatsin Tsm7aksaltn Childcare and Language Centre in Enderby.
Runaway Moon offers family rates and subsidies supported by Enderby and District Arts Council and the Enderby and District Lions Club.
