Coquitlam native Tyler Shaw is the featured performer during Surrey’s annual Tree Lighting Festival, set for Saturday, Nov. 19 at Surrey City Hall Plaza.
Shaw’s “Kiss Goodnight” (SEE VIDEO BELOW) was a pop hit in 2013, leading to a Juno Award nomination for “Breakout Artist of the Year” in 2014. Last spring, Shaw opened for Selena Gomez on some Canadian dates.
In Surrey, he’ll perform before and after the 55-foot tree is lit, which will happen during a ceremony that runs from 6:10 to 6:30 p.m.
The festival will run from noon to 7 p.m. at the plaza, located at 13450 104th Ave., Surrey.
The entertainment at the festival’s Main Stage, emceed by Mrs. Claus, will also feature Kwantlen Glee Club (12:30 p.m. start), Santa’s Welcome (12:55 p.m.), Norman Foote (1 p.m.), Colin Bullock (2 p.m.), MoonCoin Show Band (3 p.m.) and Jocelyn Alice (4 p.m.).
The Tree Riser Stage (at city council chambers) will be active, as will a Centre Stage and another inside City Centre Library.

Family-fun attractions include ice carving, road hockey, Letters to Santa, face painting, balloon artists, crafts, and holiday choirs.
The event will also feature a Mini Christmas Market, with sponsor and exhibitors’ booths.
Surrey Food Bank, Surrey Christmas Bureau and Surrey firefighters will be there accepting donations.
Rides on the ferris wheel are by donation, with proceeds to the Surrey Fire Fighters’ Adopt a Family program. A “Berry-Go-Round” and mini train will also be set up.
In the library, seasonal stories will be told, the Festival of Trees will be on display, and people can take part in a free LEGO ornament-building workshop – or support the Read to Baby program at Surrey Libraries by purchasing $5 LEGO custom take-home kit.
