The Kootenay Festival of the Arts Dance Highlight Concert held at the Capitol Theatre was a huge success.
Over 154 talented young dancers participated in the dance section of the festival, of whom 27 were chosen to perform at the highlights concert. Awards were given for ballet, modern and stage dance.
Dancers came from Nelson, Trail, Rossland, Kamloops, Nakusp and Spokane. Sarah Megee from Victoria adjudicated ballet and modern dance. Shannon Cote from Penticton adjudicated for stage dance.
The second half of the festival continues today. Disciplines include strings, woodwinds, piano, vocal and choral, leading up to the highlights concert at the Capitol Theatre tomorrow at 7 p.m. The schedule can be found at kootenayfestivalofthearts.ca. Admission to all venues is by donation.
