Birgit Kuit will perform Sept. 4 as the featured guest of the 1st Tuesday Fundraisers at the Mex Pub in Courtenay.

Birgit Kuit will perform Sept. 4 as the featured guest of the 1st Tuesday Fundraisers at the Mex Pub in Courtenay.

The evening starts at 7:30 and admission is either a cash or food donation in support of the Comox Valley Food Bank Society, which has now moved to its new location on McPhee Avenue.

As a songwriter, Birgit is known for her ability to attach soulful lyrics to beautiful melodies, a combination some have called haunting. Her songs bring you back to life’s sweeter moments; times of seeking, discovery, and honest yearning.

In the words of international recording artist Mae Moore, “Birgit’s music is pure and honest and thankfully free from cynicism in a world that needs more hope. She writes songs that make you feel glad to be alive.”

A well-seasoned performer, Birgit’s popular folk-roots style is a welcomed addition to radio playlists and her TV appearances include a live performance feature at the Mod Club in Toronto recorded by MuchMusic.

She has also been an interviewed guest on the CBC Radio One program North by North West with host Sheryl McKay.

Birgit has released her third CD titled I Feel A River, which follows her two previous releases, Running With Wolves and Raising Thunder. Birgit is a prolific songwriter, and is currently working on songs for a fourth album.

The evening fundraising concert will start at 7:30 with an opening set by event hosts Judy and Bruce Wing,  who will be joined by acclaimed jazz violinist Blaine Dunaway.
