Langley-based acoustic folk-pop band The Kwerks will be playing at Tractorgrease Cafe in Chilliwack this Saturday.

Made up of married couple Laura and Ryan Koch, this band has gained significant attention over the past year through their video-based antics on Youtube, combining original music with a dose of comedy.

The Kwerks released their self-titled debut EP in April, further igniting excitement about the band. With Laura’s rhythmic guitar playing and smooth, clear vocals, harmonizing with Ryan’s country-rich tones, the pair combine as a fun and lively sound.

They’re proud to announce that they’ve recently been nominated for a Fraser Valley Music Award in the Pop category.

The Kwerks’ songs are filled with stories of love, loss, challenge and adventure that make listeners laugh and weep. Flanked by their band or doing more intimate performances, their music is packed with fun and honesty.

“It’s been great to see the momentum around our music build throughout the year,” Laura said. “We packed out a big old barn in Surrey for our Album Release Concert and hope to keep the ball rolling over the next couple months.”

The Tractorgrease Cafe (48710 Chilliwack Lake Rd.) hosts The Kwerks on May 28 at 7 p.m. Tickets are $12, available at 604-858-3814. Listen at thekwerks.com.
