See the second transmission of LA Phil Live when the famed orchestra takes on Tchaikovsky and Shakespeare.
The concert will emanate live via satellite from the iconic Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles to selected theatres across North America, including Vernon’s Galaxy Cinemas Sunday at 2 p.m.
Led by LA Phil’s dynamic music director Gustavo Dudamel, actors Orlando Bloom, Malcolm McDowell and Matthew Rhys, and director Kate Burton will participate in the all-Tchaikovsky program, which features the composer’s three fantasy-overtures inspired by Shakespeare plays.
Preceding each of these powerful symphonic poems will be selections from the Bard’s immortal works performed by the cast of actors (Bloom as Romeo, McDowell as Prospero, and Rhys as Hamlet).
Burton, the prolific Tony-nominated stage and screen actress and daughter of the late Richard Burton, is directing this all-star cast and also serves as host for the broadcast.
The concert screening also includes behind-the-scenes interviews with the LA Phil musicians, rehearsal footage and a live post-concert Q&A with Dudamel.
