Ladysmith Little Theatre shakes things up with the Savannah Sipping Society

The show will run from November 29 to December 15

Grab a group of your friends and get ready to laugh — Ladysmith Little Theatre is running The Savannah Sipping Society, beginning November 29.

The Savannah Sipping Society, originally written Nicholas Hope, Jaime Wooten, and Jessie Jones, is a comedy about four women that need to escape from the sameness of their day-to-day routines. When fate brings the four of them together, they decide it’s time to reclaim the enthusiasm for life they’ve lost through the years.

Director Torry Clark said that there was a large turnout for auditions in July. From that turnout, Clark has put together the ‘perfect cast’ for the show.

“They say that 50 percent of being a good director is your casting, so I feel pretty confident,” Clark said. “They’ve got chemistry on stage, and outside of the theatre they are friends.”

Morrine Cusack will play Randa Covington, Patricia Zogar will play Dot Haigler, Lynnia Clark will play Marlafaye Mosley, and Anne McInnulty-Gogo will play Jinx Jenkins. The stage manager is Leslie Parent.

“It’s a full on comedy, so people can expect to be laughing their heads off and rolling in the aisle. There’s also some very nice, special moments throughout the play. I feel that we’ve plucked them out, and showcased them throughout to take away from the comedy and give a little more of that emotional factor,” Clark said.

Ladysmith Little Theatre decided not to do a Christmas production this year, and chose The Savannah Sipping Society instead. Although the play is not holiday themed, Clark said that the themes of connection, camaraderie, and friendship are good to take in to the holiday season.

The show will run from November 29 to December 15. Shows begin at 7:30 pm on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays with Sunday matinees beginning at 2:00 pm.
