The dates and performer lineup for Lake Country Open Air’s sixth summer concert series have been announced.

The dates and performer lineup for Lake Country Open Air’s sixth summer concert series have been announced.

Starting with a Canada Day celebration at Beasley Park, the concerts feature a variety of local musicians, performers and artisans at various parks throughout Lake Country.

All concerts are free and families are welcome. Everyone is reminded to bring a chair or blanket for seating, and a picnic.

“We are very excited to be celebrating our sixth anniversary of free concerts and movies in Lake Country this summer,” said Amber Hugo, Lake Country Open Air Performance Society co-founder.

“The crowds keep getting bigger and more diverse and the talent more exciting each year.”

The 2013 season begins July 1 at 5:15 p.m. with Megan Lauridsen, Chantelle Betuzzi, Taylor Hickson, Ciara Meyers, and Jesse Mast of Our Kids Have Talent.

The co-winners of Lake County Open Mic Has Talent contest will be followed by The Public House Band at 8:15 p.m. and the evening rounds out with an outdoor screening of Jack the Giant Slayer (PG-13) at 10 p.m.

The regular concert series begins July 6 and runs every Saturday until Aug. 31 (except Aug. 17 when the District of Lake Country’s Summer Jam event takes place at Swalwell Park.)

Among the many talented performers will be Calum Hughes, A.S.H., Kath and The TomKats, 2Step Closer, and Cod Gone Wild.

Another double-feature movie-in-the-park with live music will wrap up the season Aug. 31  at Okanagan Centre Park.

“This year we are looking at investing in a larger screen than the one we have been renting in previous years, so that should make a difference on the evenings we show a movie-in the park,” said Grant Lawrence, with the LC Open Air.
