Langleyites can experience Christmas through the eyes of a Christmas toy factory worker – dare they say elf – named Buddy this weekend.
Church in the Valley is presenting another Christmas musical that shows Friday and Saturday night at the east Langley church.
It’s the The Christmas Toy Factory, a dramatic musical production for the whole family, explained senior pastor David Jamieson.
The musical is written by Phil Spoelstra and directed by Colleen Zapotichy, with a cast of between 50 and 60 people – young and old – taking their turn on stage.
The team has been working on this Christmas production since October to prepare for this weekend’s showing, Jamieson said.
It’s an “entertaining Christmas musical filled with laughter, song, and a colourful cast that puts a unique spin on the story of Christmas,” he elaborated.
This is a brand new production for the Church in the Valley team.
“As Christmas approaches, Buddy shares the true story of Christmas with a host of characters including his coworkers and Paul, the ambitious factory manager.
“Like many people, these hard workers are just trying to survive the busyness of the Christmas season,” Jamieson said.
“In the last days leading up to Christmas, these busy characters become captivated by the miraculous story of Mary and Joseph, and the birth of Baby Jesus in Bethlehem.”
Doors open for both Friday’s and Saturday’s shows at 6:30, with the musical beginning each night at 7:30 p.m.
The Seventh-day Adventist church is located at 23589 Old Yale Rd. While the event is free, people are asked to reserve spaces by calling the church at 604-514-8335 or online.
