Dean Bauche, a talented artist visiting from Saskatchewan, is celebrated as the L’Arche Artist of the Month for March. Dean is the artist behind our Art of Belonging program and guided our group creation of this project in 2016. Each year has a different theme, and this year’s theme is “Inner Reflections.” Currently 20 people both with and without developmental disabilities are working together, each creating a unique piece. According to Bauche, “in this project we will explore our beauty, complexity, and mysteriousness through art. By creating a fun interactive mystery shadowbox we will explore a unique approach to self-expression and invite others to get a surprising glimpse of us through our creation.”
You can meet Dean and experience some of his art at our open house coffee March 23 10-11:30 a.m (1465 Grieve Ave., Courtenay). Come celebrate the art we produce in our Art of Belonging program March 24, 7-9 p.m. at Christ the King. L’Arche is a community where people with and without developmental disabilities work, play, laugh and learn together.
