LCMS annual open house happens Sept. 8

Addition of hand bell ensemble among the highlights planned for 2012-13 school year

Langley Community Music School (LCMS) is once again opening its doors to the community this month for its annual Community Day Open House on Saturday, Sept. 8, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

LCMS is a non-profit charitable organization committed to providing music education to the community, and is one of the largest community music schools in the province.

The school is launching a number of new and enhanced programs this September, including the introduction of a hand bell ensemble as well as an enhanced guitar program.

This is in addition to existing programs for all orchestral instruments, voice and piano, and early learning programs.

“LCMS is inviting the community to visit our beautiful learning centre to see all that we have to offer,” said Susan Magnusson, LCMS principal.

“We strive to ‘bring music to life’ in our community, and promise to have something for everyone — from babies to school age students to senior citizens.

The school is adding more programs geared towards adults who want to learn in a relaxed and social setting, such as group guitar.”

Community Day is open to everyone, and attendees can enjoy refreshments, meet teachers, learn about programs and classes, tour the facility, and register for lessons and classes.

LCMS is also known for it’s comprehensive Suzuki music programs, and  offers a full slate of group classes and private lessons in this area. To learn more about the Suzuki Method, the school is hosting a Suzuki information session on Sept. 29 — interested parents are encouraged to attend.
