The Williams Lake library’s National Film Board film series continues this Wednesday, Feb. 1 with The Chocolate Farmer.

Films begin at 7 p.m. in the Williams Lake library.

The Chocolate Farmer is set in an unspoiled corner of southern Belize, where cacao farmer Eladio Pop works his plantation in the tradition of his Mayan ancestors.

A tender and moving tale, this lush cinematic journey captures a year in the life of the Pop family as they struggle to preserve their values in a dramatically changing world.

The library will be showing the film the Mighty Jerome on Wednesday Feb. 15 at 7 p.m.

This film marks African Heritage Month in February.

A film about the rise, fall and redemption of Harry Jerome, track and field star and one of Canada’s greatest athletes.

Gorgeous monochrome imagery, impassioned interviews and astonishing archival footage are used to tell the compelling story of what has been called “the greatest comeback in track and field history.”

The film The Future is Now! will be shown on Wednesday, Feb. 29 at 7 p.m.

In an effort to re-connect a pessimistic “everyman” with humanity, a journalist takes him on a voyage of possibilities, encountering leading thinkers in the arts and sciences.

Will the journalist succeed in turning the cynic into an optimist?

Will it matter?

What can one person do?

The documentary Wiebo’s War is coming to the library in April with the viewing  date to be announced later.
