The Lighthouse Community Centre was hoppin’ with so much activity on Saturday it was hard to decide which direction to turn.
Live entertainment kicked off early at the 42nd annual Lighthouse Country Fall Fair, and carried on throughout the day in all corners of the grounds.
Orkestar Slivovika, a Balkan gypsy/Klezmer band from Vancouver, marched to the beat of their drums throughout the fair while tooting their many brass instruments.
Great acts entertained on the main stage, including the popular Rainbow Stew Cloggers and young fiddler Joy Morgan, who told the crowd, “this next song is a bit slower, but it’s still a good song.”
Local guitar player and singer Peter Mason entertained in the Arts and Crafts building, while inside the community hall Jessica Wittman lead an enthusiastic Zumba Fitness routine.
And that was all before noon.
Kids kept busy drawing on the chalk wall, taking free music lessons from Gerry Barnum, and cruising around onTiger Lily Farm’s pony rides.
There were also bouncy castles, hamster ball races, face painting and Island Farm’s Daisy the Cow sessions, among other activities.
The British Car Show attracted many of the males to their corner of the fair, while ladies could be seen perusing the open air market for hand crafted items.
Inside the community hall there was no shortage of people’s fair entries as tables were lined with everything from baking and quirky creations to paintings and afghans.
