Lights are ‘on’ to see the wizard

Vernon's Lights of Broadway are staging a Christmas concert to raise money for their spring musical, The Wizard of Oz.

A group of young musical theatre talents are off to see the wizard and are welcoming audiences to join then.

Lights of Broadway, which operates out of the Vernon Community Music School, has announced it has received the rights to present The Wizard of Oz as its 2012 spring musical.

“Entering our 11th season gives reason to celebrate with a beloved classic such as The Wizard of Oz, a musical that the whole family remembers with nostalgia and love,” said Lights of Broadway founder and instructor Charity Van Gameren. “We invite you to help celebrate keeping theatre live in the North Okanagan in May 2012 with another first-class production by Lights of Broadway.”

Van Gameren Studios and Lights of Broadway are raising funds for staging Wizard of Oz, with their annual The Sounds of Christmas concert taking place Dec. 2, 3, and 4 at the VCMS Carriage House Loft.

All threes shows start at 6 p.m. and tickets are $20 each, which includes appetizers, desserts and beautiful Christmas music, available at the VCMS, 250-545-4977.
