Lip sync battle raises $5,000, returning next month

Due to the popularity of Lip Sync Challenge fundraiser at the Copper Mug Pub, the event is set to return in May.

“It was very popular. There was a lot of demand to bring it back and a lot of demand for sooner rather than later,” said event organizer Lisa Laflamme.

The event raised $5,000 for the South Okanagan Women In Need Society  including necessities like diapers and toilet paper which the shelter is always in need of. Winner Kelly  Armnall won $500 which she donated back to SOWINS. Armnall mimed tunes by Cher and Christina Aguilara.

Around 30 packs of toilet paper and 15 packs of diapers were generously donated by contestants.

“(SOWINS) was super happy and excited about it,” Laflamme said.

SOWINS stands to benefit from the fundraiser  in May as well, and Laflamme said the event plans to return in the Fall.
