To mark Brain Injury Awareness Day local musician Steve Marc will be hosting a song circle and concert at the Castlegar Library Amphitheatre.
Marc is a traumatic brain injury (TBI) survivor himself and he is looking to raise awareness for this invisible disability and provide for the community some much-missed live entertainment.
Marc will be joined by some of his musician friends with TBI experience in a song circle and the group will share their stories along the way.
“They’ll share original music, their struggles, their victories, some of the things that help, local services that are available, some preventative suggestions and ways you can support someone close to you should they end up in a similar situation,” says Marc.
“It could happen at any moment. It’s sudden and we’re never prepared.”
Local teen band Blackout Summer will close the evening with some familiar favourites.
“They will rock your world and lighten/liven up the event for all,” says Marc.
The free event will be held June 29, from 7 – 9 p.m.
The event is in compliance with the province’s COVID reopening plan which allows for seated outdoor gatherings for up to 50 people. Physical distancing, mask wearing and hand sanitizing upon entry will be encouraged.
