Llama gets the last laugh

The Ladysmith Waterfront Art Gallery is hosting the show The Last Laugh & A Kind of Drama in January. An opening gala will be held Saturday.

Paintings were being dropped off at the Ladysmith Waterfront Art Gallery Wednesday in preparation for this month's art show. The gallery is hosting The Last Laugh and A Kind of Drama for the month of January. 'It's sort of two themes and the artists' interpretation of those themes, so it could be serious or funny,' says Kathy Holmes, president of the Ladysmith and District Arts Council. The show opens this Friday and runs until the end of the month, and an opening gala is being held this Saturday at 7 p.m. Yellow Point artist Grant Leier will be the guest speaker, and one of his small paintings will be given as a door prize. About 20 artists will be participating in the show, and all the art will be for sale.
