Abbotsford’s own Leland Klassen headlines at Yuk Yuk’s Comedy Club this week in a rare appearance in his hometown.
Klassen is a sought-after comedy veteran who has toured across North America and beyond.
Although folks in Abbotsford have been able to see him on television on such shows as the Comedy Network’s Just For Laughs and CBC television’s Halifax Comedy Festival or even on Netflix’s American comedy compilation special Thou Shalt Laugh V, they rarely get a chance to see him live.
“It’s great because I don’t often get a chance to perform so close to home,” Klassen said of this week’s performances.
“Basically, the audience will get the same hilarious show that they always get at the club, plus some local content that the other headliners just don’t know about Abbotsford. It’s the best of both worlds.”
Yuk Yuk’s opened last December at 2509 Pauline St. in Abbotsford and has featured comedians such as Canadian comic Mike Macdonald and another Abbotsford comedy powerhouse, Sunee Dhaliwal.
Shows start at 8 p.m. on Thursday and 7 and 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. Tickets are available online at yukyuks.com.
