Award-winning and awe-inspiring local roots rocker WiL is releasing another album this month, and he’ll be showcasing it at the Errington Hall Saturday, Sept. 20.
El Paseo (which means ‘the ride’ in Spanish) is WiL’s fifth studio album.
He wanted to produce the album himself so he brought in studio engineer, multi-instrumentalist and owner of Poplar Sound Studio in Errington, Jayme Langen.
To secure funding WiL used the crowd-funding site www.FANPUSH.com, where he raised $10,985 in four-weeks.
The album includes 11 tracks, including some he wrote and has performed for a couple of years like Roam (featured in a Travel Alberta ad campaign) which he wanted to re-record to reflect its development.
Others came pouring out of him, he said in his online newsletter, and he feels they are the best he has written to date.
El Paseo will be released Sept. 30 through Cordova Records but it is available by pre-order through his website: www.ibreakstrings.com.
WiL will play Salt Spring Island, Nanaimo and Errington this month and will be heading to perform through B.C., and Alberta with a stop in Saskatchewan in October.
The show in Errington starts at 8 p.m. and costs $20, ages six through 12 costs $5 and children under five are free. Find tickets at the Errington General Store, Cranky Dog Music in Parksville, and Heaven on Earth in Qualicum Beach.
