Colwood author Esi Edugyan won one of Canada’s most prestigious literary awards Tuesday night.
Edugyan picked up the Scotiabank Giller Prize and $50,000 for her novel, Half-Blood Blues, about a group of black jazz musicians trying to survive in Europe during the Second World War.
Half-Blood Blues was also shortlisted for a Man Booker Prize and a Rogers Writers’ Trust Fiction Prize. It is also nominated for a Governor General’s Literacy Award, which will be announced Tuesday (Nov. 15).
