The action in the sky above the Salmon Arm Airport on Sunday, June 26 will feature ultralight aircraft and skydivers.
Three aircraft will be performing aerobatics, both in the morning and the afternoon.
Spectators wishing to get into the air themselves can purchase a scenic flight in a small plane or helicopter for an additional cost. There will be a draw for a scenic flight at 1 p.m.
On the ground there will be a display of home-built and vintage aircraft and an air cadet parade. The Air Cadets’ flight simulator will be on hand for those who want to try their hand at flying.
There will also be a large demonstration by emergency services personnel. Wildfire Management Rapattack will demonstrate rappelling from a Bell 212 helicopter and there will also be mock fire fighting water drops. The Shuswap Emergency Program will host an emergency preparedness exposé that will feature the vehicles and equipment used by local emergency responders and a mock vehicle extraction using the Jaws of Life. The Salmon Arm Fire Department, Shuswap Search & Rescue, Salmon Arm Road Rescue, the RCMP, BC Ambulance, and the Royal Canadian Marine Search and Rescue from Sicamous will be at the event.
A pancake breakfast and lunch will also be served. The gates opens at 8 a.m. and admission is by donation.
