LVR set to hold final dance concert at Capitol Theatre

The production runs Thursday and Friday

The L.V. Rogers dance department is set to perform its final concert of the year, Movement, on Thursday and Friday at the Capitol Theatre.

Students have been busy over the past school year, performing in showcases and recitals, participating in festivals, and travelling to Vancouver for intensive master classes.

In November the Dance Academy students, alongside Allegro Dance Theatre, performed in the Nelson Dance Educator’s Showcase, an initiative of the Nelson District Arts Council.

In early December LVR dancers also travelled to Vancouver for one of the year’s highlights: students attended performances of Cirque du Soleil’s Kurios, and participated in numerous master classes at Harbour Dance Centre. While in Vancouver, students also toured the renowned Scotiabank Dance Centre. When they returned to LVR, students taught several of the dance intramural noon-hour workshops.

The spring season began with a shared performance of Dance the Night Away, presented by Allegro Dance Theatre. Shortly thereafter, LVR students participated in the Kootenay Festival of the Arts, while Allegro Dancers competed at the Kimberley Dance Works Festival and the Shine Festival in Kelowna.

Movement will showcase months of hard work and intensive rehearsals. Shows begin at 7 p.m. Tickets will be available through the Capitol Theatre Box Office, 250-352-6363. Tickets are $14 per adult, $7 per senior-student, while children six and under are free.
