A prominent Vancouver jazz vocalist and pianist is performing at the McMillan Arts Centre in Parksville with her trio on Friday, June 13.

Jennifer Scott has performed at jazz festivals across Canada and the United States and has appeared on CBC’s Hot Air several times, selected to be featured on four CBC-produced albums.

She is considered one of the finest jazz vocal improvisers in Canada and has appeared with jazz greats like Tommy Banks, Kenny Wheeler, Skywalk and Hugh Fraser, to name a few.

Scott’s longtime bassist, Rene Worst is in the trio, a professional performer since 1971. He is one of the founding members of the noted fusion band Skywalk and is also a highly regarded producer of musical events.

Veteran drummer James McRae is also in the group, involved in professional music since the early ‘80s on a full-time basis.

The Vancouver Province said of the Trio: “We’re talking about gorgeous tone and absolutely killer technique.”

Tickets for the show are $15, $12 for Oceanside Community Arts Council members. Get them at the door or ahead of time during regular hours. The show starts at 7 p.m.
