Maple Ridge actress Tirra Dent plays the “Big stone” in Eurydice, which opens in Vancouver this week.

Eurydice is a modern version of the Greek myth about Orpheus and his wife Eurydice.

This adaptation, written by Sarah Ruhl, focuses on Eurydice and her decent into the underworld, where she finds her father.

The creatures that inhabit this world are a Nasty Interesting Man, a Chorus of Stones, and, of course, the Lord of the Underworld, who makes his entrance on a tricycle and later grows 10 feet tall.

Eurydice is played by up-and-coming actress Joey Bothwell.

Bothwell can be seen in a supporting lead role alongside Halle Berry in the feature Frankie and Alice, which was shot in Vancouver.

Directed By Missy Cross, this Secretly Women Production plays at  Studio 16,1555 West 7th Avenue (at Granville) at 8 p.m. from Wednesday, May 25 to June 3.
