Maple Ridge high school hosts rock concert

Rock out tomorrow at a concert at Garibaldi secondary.

The May 12 event marks the end of a day-long music seminar that features a songwriting workshop and gear clinic led by electronic and guitar guru Simon Jarrett.

The song writing workshop begins at 3:30 p.m.

Jarrett will discuss “what makes a good guitar amplifier” in a workshop that begins at 5 p.m.

Jarrett is the founder and designer of Kingsley Amplification. Originally from the U.K., he now lives in Maple Ridge. He is a graduate from the renowned Guitar Institute in Los Angeles, where he studied with such legends as Scott Henderson, Joe Diorio and others.

Bands from Garibaldi and Samuel Robertson Technical School take the stage at 7 p.m., following a barbecue. Admission to the show is $5.

Anyone in the community is welcome to attend the seminars at the school, located at 24789 Dewdney Trunk Road, Maple Ridge. Space is limited, so reserve a place by emailing jim_watson@sd42.ca or visiting “42nd Street Eclectic Electric Event” on Facebook.
