McKenna Quintet joins forces with Sooke Philharmonic Orchestra

The McKenna Quintet and the Sooke Philharmonic Orchestra come together this week for a special concert at the Sooke Harbour House.

The award- winning quintet of talented young musicians is from Alberta. This family ensemble has been performing together for the last seven years

Norman Nelson, founder of the Sooke Philharmonic Orchestra, described the new relationship with Sooke Harbour House as further fulfillment of his original vision to bring cultural richness and music to the community.

“Twenty years ago, we started a small orchestra offering one concert a year, later added the Sooke Philharmonic Chorus and expanded the season to nine concerts annually.” Norman said.

“I am delighted to join with the internationally- recognized Sooke Harbour House to create yet another venue for area residents and visitors to enjoy classic music in all its forms”.

The 2017-18 Season marks the 20th anniversary of the “Sooke Phil.

“We are very excited at this new venture, and honoured that the Sooke Philharmonic Orchestra have agreed to forming this symbiotic union. We will be hosting a continuing series of musical events under the direction of the Sooke Philharmonic,” said Kate Saunders, spokesperson for Sooke Harbour House.
