On Oct. 31, the British one-man play Mr. Darwin’s Tree will be presented in Trinity Western University’s Freedom Hall.
The play, produced by Scholarship & Christianity In Oxford (SCIO), the UK Centre of the Council for Christian Colleges & Universities (CCCU) and underwritten by the Templeton Religion Trust, explores the life and work of Charles Darwin and his impact on science and religion.
The show’s performance by solo actor Andrew Harrison navigates Darwin’s journey to the theory of evolution, while working to hold onto his relationship with his devout Christian wife, Emma.
The show highlights the ties between science, faith and family.
This is the only Canadian stop in the play’s North American tour this fall.
Following the play, audience members are invited to stay for a talkback panel discussion with Kent Clarke, TWU Professor of Religious Studies, Dennis Venema, TWU Professor of Biology with a focus on evolution, and Angela Konrad, TWU’s Head of the Theatre Department.
David Squires, Dean, School of the Arts, Media + Culture, will serve as moderator of the panel discussion.
Tickets are $10, or $5 for students and are available at the door at 6:30 p.m. Email theatre@twu.ca to reserve in advance. The performance begins at 7 p.m.
