Singing songs of love for people and places, former President of the Community Arts Council of the Saanich Peninsula Danny Daniels will be putting on a benefit concert in support of the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada.
The audience will hear Scottish, Irish and some Canadian songs.
He will perform She’s Like The Swallow along with some songs from The Phantom of the Opera and many more.
Also performing is Margaret McLynn on piano and Rachel Wadham on the musical saw.
Working with Peninsula Track and Field, Daniels was also an athlete himself, and as a coach, he coached a young woman who had won the gold medal as a javelin thrower in the B.C. Summer Games. It was her that sparked his interest to throw a benefit concert as she later developed Multiple Sclerosis.
“So this is a way in which I can support her,” he said.
Daniels held another concert a couple years ago when he heard his athlete had M.S.
“I don’t like to do it too often because then it becomes less special and I want it to be special both for her and the people involved and to give people a chance to think about contributing to M.S.”
Daniel’s works with the M.S. Society in Victoria, who will also be at the concert with donation boxes. All of the money raised will go directly to the Society.
The concert will take place at St. Paul’s United Church on June 5 from 2:30 to 4 p.m.
There is a suggested donation of $10.
