Music is blooming for the month of May at the Caetani Cultural Centre.
Local musician/instructor Devon Muhlert is hosting a musical meditation at her studio in the Caetani centre, former home to artist Sveva Caetani, for four consecutive weeks starting this Tuesday night and continuing every Tuesday throughout May.
“Sveva Caetani was primarily a visual artist, but she also found a creative outlet in poetry that went with her Recapitulation series,” said Muhlert. “She also once painted a canvas to a Beethoven symphony, and replicated his sweeping swirls and accent points visually.
“She wanted to encourage all the arts, and it’s why she bequeathed her family home to the city of Vernon, so that artists of all persuasions might have a working space.”
Muhlert is also starting a vocal group open to women who love to sing and for those who have always wanted to.
The sessions, which start Thursday at 7 p.m., will begin with easy rounds that will lead into three-part harmony, she said.
Named Ms. Music by her students, Muhlert says she loves to share the gift of music in its many manifestations. She also teaches guitar, flute, saxophone, and songwriting out of her studio.
A June 12 concert featuring her students will take place at the Caetani centre, and will be reprised at Gallery Vertigo June 18. Both start at 2 p.m.
