It’ll be a double bill of music at Bozzini’s with Linda McRae and Thad Beckman on Sept. 3.

McRae, a former Vancouverite now based in Nashville, and Beckman from Portland, Oregon will be performing solo sets before joining up for some of the sweetest sounds you’ll ever hear.

Playing banjo, guitar and accordion McRae’s warm and world-weary voice, unforgettable melodies, and thought-provoking lyrics, make her a captivating and sought-after artist.

Next year marks McRae’s 30th year as a recording artist performing and teaching both nationally and internationally. She has been named a BC Entertainment Hall of Fame inductee for 2016.

As a guitarist, Beckman has backed up Tom Russell, Bo Diddley, The Shirelles and opened for B.B. King, Emmy Lou Harris, The Band, Dan Hicks and many more. He’s also performed on the David Letterman Show, Levon Helm’s Midnight Ramble, The Kerrville Folk Festival, Waterfront Blues Festival, and Edmonton Folk Festival. When not out on the road he splits his time writing, recording, producing and teaching.

Linda McRae and Thad Beckman: A Double Bill of Roots, Blues and Gospel Music for the Soul takes place Sat. Sept. 3 at Bozzini’s upstairs lounge. Doors open at 8 p.m., show at 9:30 p.m. Tickets $20 at Bozzini’s, or call 604-792-0744 to reserve.
