SURREY — Reggae/R&B artist Maxi Priest is among performers at this year’s Fusion Festival in Surrey, event organizers announced Wednesday.

The British-Jamaican musician, or Max Alfred “Maxi” Elliott, is best known for “Wild World,” his late-’80s cover of the Cat Stevens song.

The annual festival will take place on July 23 and 24 at Holland Park in Surrey.

Other featured performers on the event’s five stages will include double Juno Award winner Alex Cuba, Delhi to Dublin, Good for Grapes, The Boom Booms, Aché Brasil, Kunda Africa, Kaylee Johnston, Star Captains, Tropicana, Krystal Dos Santos, Songpati, Colin Bullock, Khari McClelland, Matices Del Sur, Dawn Pemberton, Kutapria, hoop dancer James Jones, Old Elk Powwow Dancers, Eleven 09 and Michael Fraser.

The flag-filled festival, presented by Coast Capital Savings, is billed as “the ultimate celebration of Canadian culture,” bringing together many distinct heritages represented by cultural and community groups. More than 40 cultural pavilions will showcase music, food and dance.

This year’s festival is expected to draw more than 100,000 people.

New this year is an expanded Kid’s World including a visit from Super Why!, plus interactive games and activities at Toddler Town.
