Musical mentors offer fun music camp

Two local musicians, Debbie Fortnum and Lisa Adrianne Witt, are presenting a fun and musically-inspiring day for children on Aug. 18, with registration deadline today.

They’re calling it Kids’ Summer Musical Bootcamp but it will offer confidence building and encouragement on the way to musical expression.

Two local musicians, Debbie Fortnum and Lisa Adrianne Witt, are presenting a fun and musically-inspiring day for children, ages 8-12.

“Confidence-building and inspirational coaching in a non-stressful, encouraging environment is what children need, and that is exactly what we are prepared to give,” says Debbie Fortnum of Far Away Music Canada.
They want to help jump-start kids into piano or voice lessons, for example and possibly into a fulfilling life of music or artistic expression, she says.

Key musical skills such as rhythm, keyboarding, vocal health, chording, performance and songwriting will be covered.

Registration is limited to 15 students.
Both Debbie and Lisa have received Award Nominations for “Female Vocalist of the Year” with the Canadian Gospel Music Association and the Canadian Maja Awards.
The Kids’ Summer Musical Bootcamp is Aug. 18 from 10-3 at the Chilliwack Arts Centre Banquet Hall on Henderson Ave, at a cost of $60 per student (including taxes) for five hours of instruction and coaching, plus a personal evaluation of child’s musical skills.
To register your child(ren), please send an e-mail Debbie@FarAwayWorship.com or Lisa@SongBirdStudios.ca with the subject line “Kids’ Summer Musical Bootcamp”.  Provide full name, address and all contact numbers, as well as your child(ren)’s full name(s) and an overview of specific musical interests and gifts. Deadline for registration is Friday, Aug. 12.  For more info call Debbie 604-793-4377 or Lisa 604-615-5250.
