Nanaimo artist featured at next Pearl Ellis Gallery show in Comox

Jack Duckworth's interest and talent for art emerged naturally in his younger years living in Duncan.

Jack Duckworth’s interest and talent for art emerged naturally in his younger years living in Duncan.

Family and vocation brought an extended hiatus while serving pastoral and campus Christian missions on Vancouver Island and in Winnipeg, and teaching practical theology modules overseas in Ukraine, Armenia, Amsterdam, and Haiti.

In retirement, his artistic interests were rekindled. He receives great joy from the colours and rhythms that come with painting landscapes, seascape, and village scenes locally, and from travels in Canada and overseas. Now living in Nanaimo with his wife, he is becoming established as an artist.

An exhibition of his paintings, entitled “Our Island” will show at the Pearl Ellis Gallery from July 22-Aug. 14.

The Pearl Ellis Art Gallery is located at 1729 Comox Avenue in Comox. The Gallery is currently open Thursday, Friday and Saturday, noon-4 p.m. with COVID protocols in place. Gallery capacity is limited to six people at a time.
