The Nanaimo Conservatory of Music has numerous activities for kids to explore this summer.
The conservatory’s Kindermusik program, for newborns to age seven, follows the principle of early development education programs and helps children develop language, motor skills, social skills, cognitive abilities and music skills.
The program runs July 4-7 and Aug. 8-11 from 10:15-11 a.m. at the Nanaimo Conservatory of Music, located at 375 Selby St. The cost is $60 per session, which includes materials.
The junior musical theatre day camp, for ages five to eight, called Swamped! The Musical, runs Aug. 14-19 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The cost is $250 for early-bird registration and $350 after July 31.
Participants will learn basic singing techniques, stage movement and acting. The day camp ends with a special performance by the participants.
The musical summer camp for ages nine to 12 runs July 24-29 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The cost is $250 for early bird registration and $350 after July 10.
Participants will learn singing techniques, choreography, speaking onstage and performance etiquette.
The musical theatre workshop for ages 13-16 runs from July 10-15 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The cost is $250 for early registration and $350 after June 26.

The organization has also partnered with the Victoria Conservatory of Music to offer a music therapy summer camp. The camp runs July 17-21 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The camp is for children between the ages of one and eight with special needs. The summer camps will take place at the Nanaimo Conservatory of Music.
