Nanaimo’s storytellers’ group is holding a workshop to help people find and develop their storytelling voice.

On March 6 and 7 the Around Town Tellers present The Art and Craft of Storytelling at Unitarian Hall. The workshop is designed for storytellers of all levels of experience.

“Beginning tellers, seasoned tellers alike, it’s for all people who share an interest and a passion for story,” said Margaret Murphy, one of the facilitators.

Other storytellers leading workshops that weekend are Cindy Shantz, Sandy Cole and Noel Lewis-Watts. Murphy said the main points they will cover are “how to present stories with greater ease and confidence and gain a greater appreciation of the power of stories and storytelling.”

“We’re exploring the delights of sharing oral stories…” Murphy said, later adding, “They just have to show up with their interest and their willingness to explore.”

WHAT’S ON … Around Town Tellers present The Art and Craft of Storytelling at Unitarian Hall, 595 Townsite Rd., on March 6 from 6:30 to 9 p.m. and March 7 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Registration $100. For more details and to register, contact Margaret Murphy at storyshare@shaw.ca or 250-729-9994.
