Nanaimo Summertime Blues Festival announces lineup

Annual Nanaimo festival runs Aug. 24-27 at Maffeo Sutton Park

The Nanaimo Blues Society has announced the lineup for its annual festival.

The Nanaimo Summertime Blues Festival runs Aug. 24-27 at Maffeo Sutton Park. Some of this year’s feature performers include Shemekia Copeland, Sonny Landreth, Victor Wainwright and the WildRoots and more.

The festival includes a non-ticketed concert Aug. 24, which runs from 3-10 p.m. The show features Alexander’s Bluetime Band, Lady V and the Key Krasher, Lazy Mike and the Rockin’ Recliners, Renovation Blues Band and Thor and the Thundercats. Admission to the show is by a non-perishable food item or cash donation to Loaves and Fishes Community Food Bank.

Aug 25 performers include James Buddy Rogers, J.W. Jones, Harpdog Brown and the Travelin’ Blues Show, Ronnie Baker Brooks and Landreth.

The Aug. 26 performers include Sugar Brown with the Travelin’ Blues Show, the Kirby Sewell Band, David Gogo, the Blackburn Brothers, the Paul DesLauriers Band, MonkeyJunk, Mark Hummel’s Golden State Lonestar Revue and Wainwright and the WildRoots.

Aug. 27 performers include Curl, Suzie Vinnick, Kara Grainger, Cecile Doo-Kingue, Angel Forrest, Shakura S’Aida, Ruthie Foster and Copeland.

Tickets are $55 for a day pass or $139 for a weekend pass.
