A new book called dancing with ideas: journeys, explorations and dialogues with children will be launched at the Comox Valley Art Gallery April 5, starting at 2 p.m.
Produced by Lesley Henderson and Angela Somerset, the 40-page large format colour publication celebrates children’s many languages of creative expression that take shape through imagination, ideas, investigation and interweaving.
The book follows four interdisciplinary and multifaceted projects throughout the course of a year, of 2013, including: being and becoming: the alchemy of identity, dancing with dinosaurs, the job site and when water flows, where does it go?
These projects culminated in last June’s art exhibition from here to there, by the group of under seven at the Comox Valley Art Gallery.
Lesley Henderson is an early childhood educator, artist, consultant and workshop presenter in the field of creativity and young children, and the Director of Roseberry preschool.
Angela Somerset is an interdisciplinary artist, print designer, post-secondary educator and curator. They began their collaboration in early 2013, when Somerset’s daughter started attending Roseberry Preschool.
