Lovers of Christmas music, comedy and musical theatre are getting an early holiday gift this year, as a new show the whole family can enjoy is coming to 100 Mile House in early December.
“From Me To You: A Christmas Musical” tells the story of one quirky, funny family, that breaks into festive songs, on the night before Christmas.
The show is the creation of Nicole Weir, a local performer and hairdresser, and her family. The show also includes special guests: the Grinch, Santa Claus and gymnasts from the South Cariboo Rhythmic Gymnastics Club.
There’s also a sing-a-long portion for the audience.
“It’s not a typical Christmas concert,” Weir says.
“I wanted to do a Christmas concert and had a lot of fun ideas. Fortunately, I have a family full of performers.”
Of the characters, Weir explains: mom’s a little bit weird and flighty, and likes to break into song all the time. The teenage daughter is, like, not impressed. The little brother is a brat, and dad is a funny guy, too.
The show develops similar to a sitcom, while segueing into classic Christmas songs, Weir says.
“It flows really beautifully. It’s something fun you can bring your family to.”
Show dates are Dec. 4 at 7 p.m.; Dec. 5 at 7 p.m.; and Dec. 6 at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m., all at Martin Exeter Hall in 100 Mile House.
Doors open 30 minutes before the show.
Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for children 12 and under.

The show is being put on in partnership with the South Cariboo Rhythmic Gymnastics Club and Canadian Mental Health Association-South Cariboo Branch.
