New exhibit begins at Kariton Gallery in Abbotsford

Inceptions features the work of students from University of the Fraser Valley.

The Abbotsford Arts Council’s next show begins Friday, March 7 at the Kariton Art Gallery (2387 Ware St.).

“Inceptions” showcases artwork by students graduating from the University of the Fraser Valley in 2014 with a diploma in visual arts.

The exhibition highlights the different disciplines students would use during the completion of this two-year diploma. Works will range from printmaking and installation to painting and sculpture.

Some students have taken on the extra challenge of producing new work specifically for this exhibition and reinvestigating their previous work.

Seven artists will be featured: Ashley Bulthuis, Jessica Koplar, Julie Epp, Kaitlyn Ross, Lisa Edwards, Michelle Auton and Tasha Hinterbrandner.

The show runs from March 7 to April 1, with an opening reception with the artists on Sunday, March 9 from 1 to 4 p.m.

Gallery hours are Tuesday to Friday from noon to 5 p.m., and Saturday to Sunday from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
