Revelstoke is becoming a regular stop on the New Groovement‘s touring rotation.
The nine-piece R&B, soul, hip hop and funk band from Victoria returns to the Traverse on Saturday, March 18, to share their diverse range of infectious grooves with a community they’ve come to love.
“We’re just thrilled to continue getting to spread our music to such a receptive, warm and friendly audience,” said New Groovement vocalist Dan Howse. “It’s a beautiful town nestled in the mountains, the people are friendly, it’s a great community. There’s a nice strong sense of spirit in the town and it’s a really fun place to travel to.”
The tour is an opportunity for the band to showcase their full-length release, the Orange Album.
The New Groovement is a rising star in B.C.’s music scene. They’ve been nominated for Urban Artist of the Year at the Western Canadian Music Awards, won Album of The Year at the Vancouver Island Music Awards, performed at all of the region’s biggest festivals and receive regular airplay on campus and commercial radio stations across Canada. They were asked to open for critically acclaimed acts such as Five Alarm Funk, and have been praised in print, television and radio media in Victoria for their energetic performances and stellar recorded material.
Howse says the New Groovement’s music touches on numerous different musical styles, and appeals to a wide-ranging audience.
“We play music for a very diverse audience you know, because we have some songs that are more sort of ballads, some songs that are straight hip-hop, some songs that are funk instrumental numbers and some stuff that’s almost more Afro-beat centred,” said Howse. “We’re really all over the map. Pretty much any crowd is a good New Groovement crowd. But the crowd in Revelstoke specifically is a really fun, enthusiastic crowd that’s just a pleasure to play for all the time.”
Showtime is scheduled for 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. Check out a video of the performing live below:
