As peak filming season starts to ramp up, closures are already starting to impact communities Lower Mainland communities.

The City of Maple Ridge warned commuters that traffic travelling in both directions on Golden Ears Way would be slowed on Sunday afternoon as part of a stress test for upcoming filming.

According to the city, these stress tests will involve stopping traffic for approximately three to five minutes at a time, with crews then resetting and allowing vehicles to pass through for upwards of 10 minutes before conducting the next test.

“A helicopter will be used to provide a bird eye’s view of the traffic impacts,” said the city.

The first of these stress test locations will be at the base of the Golden Ears Bridge, affecting northbound traffic from 11 a.m. to noon.

This will be followed by a second round of testing on Golden Ears Way, this time affecting southbound traffic just after the on-ramp from Lougheed, with traffic being intermittently shut down between noon and 1 p.m.

Commuters are being recommended to find alternate routes on Sunday, March 24, or plan their travel accordingly.

These round of filming stress tests come only a few days after the Cineplex Odeon Meadowtown Cinemas had its parking lot partially taken over by a film crew and a convertible vehicle hooked up with a fancy multi-camera mount.

According to a production assistant, they were there filming scenes for the new movie Playdate, which features Kevin James and Alan Ritchson.

The synopsis for Playdate tells the story of a reluctant stay-at-home dad played by James who accepts an invitation to have a playdate with another stay-at-home dad played by Ritchson, with the two finding themselves quickly plunged into the heart of a dark and deadly conspiracy.
