New logo revealed for Lumby play

The Monashee Arts Council has revealed the new logo that will be used to promote the locally written play, Moose Under Coyote Sleeping.

The Monashee Arts Council has revealed the new logo that will be used to promote the original and locally written play, Moose Under Coyote Sleeping.

Lumby student Brooke Rudsvick designed the winning logo in the contest that went out to local residents earlier this year.

“We want to have as much community involvement as possible and a logo contest to support and encourage local visual artists was one more way of doing so,”  said Jennifer Greenwood, arts and culture program coordinator for the Monashee Arts Council. “There were several very strong entries and it was a difficult decision for the committee to choose a final submission as the winner, but they managed to do so and we are so pleased with the art.”

Rudsvick studies art with Robin LeDrew, an instructor and director with the Monashee Arts Council, and says she took up the challenge to create a unique piece that reflects the theme of the upcoming play.

“Brooke has always been very passionate about her art and has been taking private classes with Robin for almost two years now,” said Greenwood. “This is the first contest she’s won with a monetary prize and it is likely that prize will get used to support her art habit.”

Rudsvick is currently fine-tuning her image so it is clear for printing in all aspects of promoting Moose Under Coyote Sleeping.

“The logo will appear on everything to do with the play production from press releases, website promotions, Facebook announcements, Tweets, as well as our printed posters and programs,” said Greenwood. “It is going to be great seeing the artwork of such a young and enthusiastic local artist associated with all the PR work involved in bringing this one-of-a-kind theatrical work to the stage.”

The Monashee Arts Council received a grant funding for Moose Under Coyote Sleeping, written by local playwright Phil Wagner, from the B.C. Arts Council. The play portrays the history and lifestyle of the Monashee region and is scheduled to run at  the Charles Bloom Secondary School community theatre in Lumby April, 2015.
