New year offers new classes at Art Room in Chilliwack

Pick up a pencil, prime a canvas, and play with an assortment of artistic mediums this January, February, and March at the Chilliwack Community Arts Council.

With all classes and workshops hosted inside the creative Art Room instructional space, a world of artistic possibilities is within reach for all ages this coming year.

For fans of the arts council’s staple, Corks and Canvas, the new year offers Beer and Brushes, a refreshing new outlet for adult artists looking to embrace their love of art and libations. Led by multi-talented artist and instructor, Stephanie Brubaker, participants will quench their thirst for mixed media painting techniques while enjoying a glass of craft beer.

For those looking to focus on foundational skills and brush up on the history of art, Get Drawing, Basic Watercolours, and Painting Through the Ages will offer an educational twist. While the relaxing tones of Magical Mandalas and Adult Mandalas will leave students in a state of Zen.

Returning by popular demand are Art FUNdamentals, Rockin’ Art, Learn to Knit, Soapmaking for Beginners, Advanced Cold Processed, Melt and Pour Soap, Henna for Everyone, and Samosa Rolls, a new take on a classic savoury delicacy.

A collection of nature-inspired classes will be hosted to welcome the long awaited spring season. Participants will journey into the outdoors from the warmth and comfort of the Art Room with the Winter Tree and Landscapes Series, Sea and Sand, Floral Acrylics, Blossom with Watercolours, 3D Trees, and Ammonite Fossil Necklace.

For artists searching for even more artistic adventures, the multi-medium techniques featured in Spring into Pottery, the Collage Series, Do You Want to Build a Snowman?, Fun with Cartoon Characters, Colourful Animals, Mr. Roboto, Beginner Wire Wrapping, Stamped Pendant, and Aloo Paratha, a flavourful twist on traditional Roti flatbread, will light up the imaginations of all.
