Micah Barnes’ new show “New York Stories” takes you on a musical tour of The Big Apple.
The tour begins uptown at The Apollo Theatre and The Cotton Club, and moving midtown to Times Square and Broadwaybefore landing downtown at jazz clubs Birdland and The Blue Note in The Village.
The Canadian jazz crooner will be performing, in Cumberland, classic songs from legendary New York songwriters like IrvingBerlin, George Gershwin, Cole Porter, Fats Waller, Duke Ellington, Carole King and Burt Bacharach, as well as songs fromBarnes’ critically acclaimed disc, New York Stories.
Barnes has been a treasured voice on the Canadian music scene for decades, and is a former member of the a cappella groupThe Nylons.
Barnes’ latest CD is a romantic collection of original songs inspired by the Big Apple’s rich musical history, as well as theartist’s own romance in “The city that never sleeps.”
In his new show, Barnes takes the audience on a tour of New York City’s musical history including beloved chestnuts from TheNylons catalogue in every show.
Barnes will be appearing at Studio Live, located at 2679 Beaufort Ave. in Cumberland on Monday, April 3 at 7:30 p.m.
