An event hailed as the Okanagan’s biggest Halloween party hits Vernon for a spooktacular evening of beats, breaks, frights and lights Saturday.
The Wesbild Centre transforms into a giant entertainment spectacular Saturday from 8 p.m. until the wee hours of 6 a.m. for Fright Night.
The 19-plus event combines world renowned dance music talent with leading-edge production to scare up an unparalleled experience of sight and sound.
“It’s the first time we’ve been able to bring this type of world-class event here,” said Justin Pandos, Fright Night organizer, who is expecting 2,000 to 3,000 people.
“It will be something that no one has ever seen before.”
And plans are to make the event an annual bash.
“It’s right in the middle of Kelowna and Kamloops and the whole goal of this is to build it up to the biggest Halloween party in the Okanagan,” said Pandos, adding people are coming from across the valley and organizers have even arranged transportation for guests.
A visual and lighting extravaganza will be put on by Beama Visual Environments whose creativity has hit stages across Western Canada, including Salmo’s Shambhala Music Festival.
Crews from Primrosa Vancouver will also be working day and night to build the venue into a complete sensory experience.
Fright Night’s body shaking sound system is provided by Western Canada’s most renowned sound company, PK Sound, which has also been featured at Shambhala as well as Skrillex’s Mothership tour.
To top it off, the house will be rocked by a lineup of world class DJs: Feguk, AC Slater, Nicky Romero, Drop the Lime, Terravita, Smalltown DJs, Steve Duda, Cain, Choasphere, Sprinkredible and Code: E.
Pandos is most stoked to see Romero, who is working with the world’s No. 1 DJ David Guetta.
“He’s one of the hottest acts right now,” said Pandos of the young up and coming Dutchman.
Another highlight of the night is New York-based producer/DJ Drop The Lime, who is currently on a North American tour.
Drop The Lime will fuse his two passions, classic rockabilly and rock ‘n’ roll and bass-pumping dance music, all the while rocking his signature New York bass style on tracks like Shake Baby, Let’s Go and Hot As Hell, all new tracks from his upcoming debut album, Enter The Night.
On top of the all-encompassing entertainment, the event also has more than $2,000 in prizes up for grabs for all those shaking their tail feathers, ghoulish shadows or whatever creative costumes they can come up with.
A limited number of the second batch of advanced tickets are now being sold at $48 and once those are gone the price goes up to $58. Today is the last day for advance sales, with prices increasing on the day of the show.
