A local band is celebrating the release of its first CD with an Abbotsford performance before starting the touring season.
Oh No! Yoko will be unveiling the album Pau Pau with a show at the Air Fare Lounge, 33790 Essendene Ave., beside Passage to India on July 2 at 7p.m.
The EP will be officially released online on June 21.
The group, which has been together for about five years, consists of Liam Hamilton on drums, Everett Morris as lead singer and guitarist, and Nic Denis on bass.
They all graduated from W.J. Mouat last week and already have a busy schedule ahead of them.
They recently played in Vancouver SongFest at Stanley Park’s Malkin Bowl and will be performing at the popular festival Indie Week in Toronto this October.
Between those gigs, they’ll be hitting the road on July 2 for their first tour, which will take them from Victoria to Edmonton.
They’ll be joined by Chilliwack group Teen Daze, All My Friends from Mission and Kingdom Cloud from Kelowna.
Oh No! Yoko spent the past year recording their debut album in Abbotsford.
Writing all of their own songs, the boys were inspired by high school life – from teachers to inside jokes.
They describe their sound as “mass rock, pop” and “tropical pop.”
At their upcoming show, they will perform all the songs off Pau Pau.
