The authors of a popular book that has been optioned for a Hollywood movie will be in Mission this Saturday.
For co-author Tamara Veitch, stopping at Black Bond Books is truly a visit home.
She grew up in Mission and graduated from Mission Secondary School, and still has strong family connections to the district.
“Mission was a great place to grow up,” said Veitch, whose brother still lives here.
Veitch and her partner Rene DeFazio currently live in South Surrey, and have been shopping around One Great Year for several months.
Described as an adventure in the same vein as Indiana Jones, with the spiritual introspection of an Eckhart Tolle novel, the story features Marcus, who has a past life memory as he has been reincarnated many times, and Theron – his true love – doesn’t. The book is set in ancient times through to modern, travelling from the ruins of Tiwanaku, Bolivia to the Pyramids of Giza, through the Great Year Cycle described by Plato in ancient Greece and to current discoveries in quantum mechanics.
According to Veitch, the book has received an honorable mention at both the London and New York book festivals, and it was featured at the Oscars this year.
Veitch and DeFazio will be at Black Bond Books, located in the Junction Mall, from noon until 4 p.m. June 14. For more information visit onegreatyear.com.
