Penticton theatre company looking to fill roles in 2019 productions

Penticton’s Many Hats Theatre Company has announced the lineup for their 12th season, and they’re holding open auditions later this month to find tha actors they’ll need in 2019.

“We have a great lineup” said Eric Hanston, the company’s executive producer. “Comedy, drama, and high-energy antics. Something for everyone.”

Open auditions for the upcoming season are scheduled for Oct. 30 on the Cannery Stage, starting at 6:30. Entrance is through the Nest and Nectar right next door. All directors will be in attendance. First come first seen.

Actors of all experience levels are invited to attend. A prepared monologue, headshot, and acting resume is a great but not essential. Auditionees should be prepared to be photographed and possibly do a cold read from one of the scripts.

The 2019 season starts in February, with Jane Pilkey directing a production of Swing Dance, by Canadian playwright Lynda Martens.

The comedy features two couples, one sophisticated and one not, colliding in a misunderstanding about what “swinging” is. It requires two male and two female actors, aged 50 to 70.

Other productions planned for 2019 include:

• Neil Simon’s Odd Couple, Female Version, requiring four women, aged 35 to 55 and two men, aged 30 to 45;

• Another comedy, The Savannah Sipping Society” by Jessie Jones, Nicholas Hope and Jamie Wooten, requiring four women, aged 50 to 70;

• This Random World, requiring two men and five women from ages 29 to 79;

• Drawer Boy, a love story and a war story by Michael Healey requiring two men aged 55 to 65, and one man aged 30 to 40;
