Well into its third year, Lake Country Open Mic Has Talent has been organizing fun events to spotlight original singers and songwriters from the Okanagan.
The last date for the 2014 contest took place at the Lake Country Coffee House on Wednesday and will be followed by the top five event this coming Wednesday, April 16.
(Musicians chosen for the finals were not available at press time.)
“The challenge for esteemed judges, Ryan Donn and Justen Gordon, will then be to decide the final winner of the contest and announce the top 2014 musician that night,” said Jennifer Boal, contest organizer.
“It will be a night of great original music and an exciting conclusion to this extremely successful competition.”
Those performing this past Wednesday included Andrew Markson, Dawn and Robert King, Michael Painchaud, Madeleine and Abbey Ertel, Jacquelyn Rose, Josh Loewen, Jake Hubner, Anjuli Otter, and Madonna Hamel.
On March 5, performers included Aaron Gordon, Taylor Thomas, Kim Wilson, Gail and Karl Hourigan, Brandy Moore, and Hailey and Beki Troock.
On the first performance night of the season, Feb. 5, Chantelle Betuzzi, Jonathan Hintz, Dale Ziech, Micah Kutzley, Ben Klick, and The Timely Wonders shared their musical abilities.
Brief video clips of these performances are available at www.lakecountryopenmic.ca and the public can vote for their favourite performance of the night.
Performer prizes include pro audio recording/production time with Dan Marcelino of DMA Studios as well as opportunities to perform at the Lake Country Open Air concert series, Kelowna’s Parks Alive, Lake Country’s ArtWalk, and the Interior Provincial Exhibition in Armstrong.
“We look forward to continuing our regular open mic nights beginning on May 7,” said Boal.
Open mic nights are held on the first Wednesday of every month at the Lake Country Coffee House.
